Bipartisan Clean Water Bill Introduced in House
Also during Infrastructure Week 2017, H.R. 2510, the Water Quality Protection and Job Creation Act of 2017, was introduced by Ranking Member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Peter DeFazio (D-OR), Vice Chair of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure John J. Duncan, Jr. (R-TN), and Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Water Resources and the Environment Grace Napolitano (D-CA). The bill will invest $25 billion over five years in wastewater infrastructure and other efforts to improve water quality and create thousands of new, living wage construction jobs. Specifically, it reauthorizes the Clean Water SRF at $20 billion over the next 5 years, provides $2.5 billion over 5 years for CSO grants, authorizes $1.5 billion over 5 years for state water pollution control programs, provides $600 million over 5 years for wet weather and stormwater projects and innovative management approaches, as well as a number of other things.
