Water Treatment Plant Operator/Laborer
The Town of Halifax seeks a full-time Water Treatment Plant Operator/Laborer. This position will be responsible for the operation, repair and maintenance of the water treatment and distribution system, and other public works duties as assigned. Applicants should have water operation experience and must be capable of light to moderate facility maintenance tasks as required and be capable to work in extreme weather conditions.
The position requires a minimum of a D1 and T1 water operator license, with preference given to those candidates with a T2 or higher. If not, the candidate must commit to obtaining these licenses within six months from date of hire. Also, within one year, candidate must obtain a Class B CDL driver’s license and hoisting license.
This is a union position. The starting hourly pay range is $23.00 through $29.86. Candidates must be available for alternating, on-call coverage, during nights and weekends.
